'Another day,' you thought to yourself. That English bastard had been dragging you to these world meetings for the past six months. Of course you could never go inside. You were only a territory. 'I wish I could just move out of Arthur's house and live on my own.'

At least it was a nice day out. The sun was out with a few patches of clouds covering the sky. A little yellow bird was chirping in a nearby tree. It flew closer and closer to you. Eventually it was standing at you feet, "Why hello there," you said. It just chirped.

"His name is Gilbird," a voice said. You looked up and saw a man with silver hair and peculiar, red gleaming eyes.

"He's your bird?" you asked.

"Yup, the awesome me owns that bird," he said arrogantly.

"I've never seen you around here before," you said.

"Mainly because I'm too awesome to come here in the first place," he sat next to you and Gilbird flew to his shoulder.

"Umm… ok. So why are you here now?"

"B-because… my brother is… uh…. Forcing, ja forcing me to come with him to the meetings," he said.

"Who's your brother?"

"Ludwig."

"Why aren't you in there with him?"

"I'm too awesome to be a country!" he said.

"I wish I could say the same," you said morosely.

"Why are you here?"

"I'm just British territory. I belong to Arthur."

"So you're ___________?"

"You know my name?" you asked.

"Ja, my girlfriend Liz always talks about you!"

"What's your name?"

"Gilbert Beilschmidt the Amazingly Awesome!" he said.

'There he goes with the arrogance,' you thought.

"You sure are full of yourself," you said.

"H-hey! I'm only being honest!" Gilbert said. 'This guy just needs to shut up!' you thought. Then the countries started coming out of the building. Ludwig and Arthur came out talking together. "Hey little bro!"

Ludwig looked surprised, "What are you doing here?"

"Why you told me to come, remember?" Gilbert patted him on the back nervously. 'What a dork, lying to me…' you thought.

"Come on now, _________," Arthur said to you.

"Yes, sir," you replied.

"Hey, ________! Will I see you here during the next meeting?" but before you could answer Arthur butted in.

"Not if you're going to be here you git!" he grabbed your arm and dragged you home. "Don't hang around Gilbert, he's a wanker."

"Ya, I know," you said. The two of you got home and Peter stopped by for a visit.

"Hello, _________!" he said.

"Hey, Peter," you said, 'My day is full of idiots today, isn't it?'

"What do you want you pipsqueak?" Arthur said sipping his tea.

"Since you take _________ to the world meetings, can you take me?" Peter asked.

"No, you're not a country," he replied.

"But neither is she!" he complained. They argued and you retreated to the kitchen. You washed the dirty dishes Arthur left for you to clean. You heard a tap on the window and you looked up. You jerked back because Gilbert's face was right on the glass.

"What do you want?" you said.

"I'm bored," he said. You opened the window to hear him more clearly.

"So you stalked me home?"

"Why not? You know I'm awesome at stalking," Gilbert said.

"I can tell," you slammed the window shut and resumed working, trying to ignore that idiotic face. You looked up again and saw him still there, his face all wry and red. "Well, go home!"

"My… fingers…!" he muttered. You looked at the window and saw his fingers caught between the window and the pane.

"Oh my God!" you lifted the window quickly and he gasped for breath and clutched his fingers.

"MEIN GOTT!!!!" he screamed.

"I'm so sorry! Want some ice for that?" you ran to the fridge and grabbed the ice pack. You brought it over and grabbed his hands and wrapped them with the ice pack. "Sorry, again."

"It doesn't matter. My awesome fingers heal quickly anyways," you rolled your eyes.

"_________!! What was that scream?! Are you all right?!" Arthur said as he ran into the kitchen with Peter, "You!!" he pointed at Gilbert. "Don't hold her hands like that, you wanker!"

Arthur stormed over and ripped your hands apart from his. He slammed the window and shut the curtains, "I told you not to get near him!" Arthur spat at you.

"I accidentally slammed the window on his fingers, so I had to help him," you said.

"I. Don't. Care. He's a disgrace to countries everywhere and I don't want you to get influenced by him."

"Yes, sir," you always had to obey Arthur whether you agreed with him or not. Arthur did not take you with him to the world meeting the next week. 'Thank God,' you thought.

That night you were in your room folding laundry. The doorbell rang and you walked to the hallway to get a glance of whom it was. Arthur answered the door, "Oh great, you again," he said.

"Ja it's me!" Gilbert said.

"What do you want?"

"You mean you're not glad to see the awesome me?" Arthur didn't respond to that, "Well aren't you going to let me in?"

"Listen, I don't mean to be rude, but no," Arthur closed the door. You ran back to your room and looked out the window. You saw Gilbert walk away. You opened the window and called out to him.

"Gilbert!" he turned around, and his face lit up. He ran to your window. "Don't come back here anymore, it'll only cause trouble."

"The awesome me doesn't get into trouble!" he replied.

The next day, Arthur left you with gardening chores to do while he was gone. You grabbed the rake and started making a pile of leaves. You hated autumn. It meant more of this arduous work. While you worked you heard a loud crunching noise. You turned around and saw that your giant pile of leaves was destroyed. Gilbert was sitting in the spot where it used to be.

"Gilbert!! I worked so hard on getting all the leaves in a pile!" you yelled at him. You raised your rake and attempted to beat him up with it.

"Is that the way to treat someone who just broke up with their girlfriend?" he said.

"Wait, you broke up with Liz?" you asked. He nodded.

"Just yesterday. She realized I was too awesome for her and she left me," he said. He grabbed the rake from you.

"I'm sorry, Gilbert. I didn't know," you said.

"Hey when you're too awesome, you're too awesome, right?" he smiled, "Let's get raking!"

"If Arthur finds you here, he's going to rip your balls off," you said. He looked up from his raking.

"He wouldn't dare harm the awesome me!" he continued to rake. 'He recovers from break ups quickly,' you thought as you observed his happy mood. Arthur did come back and spotted Gilbert. He chased him off his property and scolded you once again. He left you alone to rake some more.

The sun started setting and the chilly wind started kicking in. You bundled up as much as you could, but you couldn't stay warm enough. Then something soft fell around your neck. It was a black and white scarf. You looked up and saw little Gilbird flapping above you.

"Thank you, Gilbird. And tell Gilbert thank you as well," Gilbird landed on your shoulder holding a note in his mouth. You took it and it read "Hey, ___________! I don't care what Arthur says; I'm still going to stalk you! Keep the awesome scarf as long as you want. From, the Awesome Gilbert."

"___________, where's my tea?" Arthur called from the house.

"Get it yourself you bastard," you mumbled to yourself mimicking his voice. You ran inside the house with the scarf on, and Gilbird flew away.

"Where'd you get that scarf?" he asked.

"From a friend."

"Not Gilbert I hope," he sipped the tea you gave him.

"No, sir," you lied. The next morning Arthur wanted you to finish raking the leaves. The morning air bit your nose, so you brought the scarf out. Today you were on the far side of the yard so Arthur couldn't see you. You heard a guest arrive at the house. You glanced over and saw it was Liz, Gilbert's ex. 'What does she want?' you wondered. You snuck your way to the wall of the living room where she and Arthur were sitting, and you pressed your ear to it.

"Listen, I don't appreciate what your little servant girl is doing," Liz said.

"She's not doing anything I assure you," Arthur said.

"Oh really?"

"She's only been home doing her chores."

"Then why did Gilbert say the reason why he broke up with me was because of her?"

"What the bloody hell?!" your heart started to race. You ran away from the wall and continued to rake like nothing happened. 'He broke up with her because of me? That red-eyed idiot?' you thought to yourself.

You felt a drop of water fall on your head, then another and then another. 'Great now it's raining?!' you thought. 'I'd better stay out here in case Liz wants to pound my face to dust with a frying pan!' you raked as you got soaking wet. Suddenly the water stopped. You looked up and saw an umbrella over you. You turned to see who the holder was. Gilbert.

"Thought I'd be awesome enough to prevent you from getting a cold," he said.

"Hey, I need to talk to you," you said.

"And what might that be?"

"Is the real reason why you and Liz broke up was because of me?" you asked. His face turned as red as his eyes.

"Uh… no, w-why would you think that?" he said nervously.

"Well, it's because she's in there telling Arthur the whole thing."

"It's cause… she was… getting jealous of you! That's why she broke up with me and—," you cut him off with a kiss.

"That's not what it sounded like, Gilbert," you said, "Cause it sounded like you left her for me." He smiled.

"It's because I found someone more awesome than me," he kissed you back. Gilbird on his shoulder just chirped away in approval.
